The
Jerusalem Print Workshop, a non-profit organization founded in 1974,
is an art center dedicated to the advancement of printmaking in Israel.
It is the largest and most important of its kind in the
country. Its goal is to explore, along with the artists, the unlimited
possibilities of printmaking, while preserving uncompromising criteria
of quality of printing and materials, and upgrading standards of edition
management, exhibition and commercial publishing.
The JPW, located in a spacious 19th century Ottoman building
in the heart of Jerusalem, houses a workshop on its first floor and a
gallery on the upper floor.
In keeping with our goals, we invite artists to work
and create original art prints in collaboration with our highly skilled
master printers. The artists are provided with the printmaking facilities
- lithography, etching, woodcut and screenprinting - and all the guidance
and advice they need.
The JPW also offers Open Studio facilities - at the moment
only in etching - for artists who want to work independently, as well
as courses in the various techniques for those who want to acquire skills
in the media.
Our gallery stocks the largest print and artist's book
collection in the country, representing a unique cross-section of Israeli
art. The gallery holds exhibitions curated by either the JPW or by guest-curators.
The JPW's publications consist of limited, signed and
numbered editions of prints and artist's books by guest artists. We also
publish catalogues to accompany the exhibitions.
